Textile artist Line Rothmann wove a plaid from moth-proofed second-hand wool and handed it to clothes moths. The piece demonstrates the toxicity of ’80s mothproofing through a 24/7 stream of moths eating non-proofed yarn.

We designed and built the digital experience and streaming infrastructure for Mothproofed for Life. Three cameras connect to an on-site server that processes and transmits the video to our cloud infrastructure, where WebRTC and HLS deliver reliable, low-latency streaming across devices. To keep the installation running for months, we developed automatic stream recovery, monitoring and remote camera controls.

The bilingual website lets visitors switch between camera angles and explore seven sections about the artwork, the moths, the chemicals and the research. Together, the system makes it possible to follow a transformation so gradual that changes only become visible over weeks and months.
