Anker Bak is a Danish furniture designer and cabinetmaker with an international reputation built on craft, organic form, and a deep respect for the dignity of the user. His collaborators include Carl Hansen & Søn, Karimoku, and Takumi Kohgei, and his work has been featured in Dezeen, Bo Bedre, and WWD Japan. Creative Oak was asked to build a website that could live up to the design behind the furniture.

website

Anker Bak's existing website didn't match the quality or depth of his work. Updating content — new products, exhibitions, press coverage — required technical help even for minor changes. The site also lacked the editorial tone and aesthetic rigour his furniture demands. And with deep ties to Japanese craft traditions and a growing international audience, there was no way to express that dimension of his world online.
We built a new website in Next.js with Sanity as the CMS, giving Anker full ownership of his content. The visual language mirrors the philosophy behind his furniture — considered, organic, purposeful. One of the most distinctive choices is presenting two languages — English and Japanese — side by side, with no language switcher. It's not a technical workaround; it's an aesthetic statement. Anker's work belongs to two worlds at once.
Anker now manages his own site — new projects, exhibitions, and collaborations go live without technical assistance. The site is fast, sharp across all devices, and communicates his identity as a designer with the same care he puts into his furniture.
